what is a flexitarian diet? Can Parma! allow me to try some plant-based eating?

What is a Flexitarian Diet?

What is a flexitarian diet, and why might it be the right fit for you?

Vegan, keto, paleo, vegetarian… these various terms for specialty diets are all pretty well-known to us today, but have you ever heard of the term “flexitarian?” As the term “flex” suggests, a flexitarian diet is one made up primarily of vegetables and plant-based ingredients, but occasionally incorporates meat, fish and dairy. Flexitarians follow a less-strict diet pattern than someone who is vegan or vegetarian. Some flexitarians eat meat only one or two days a week, and some may only have it once a month. It’s really up to the individual.

What are the benefits of a flexitarian diet?

Eating a plant-based diet has proven to be better for the environment, and better for our overall health. Flexitarian diets help to lower greenhouse gases and environmental impact by reducing meat consumption, while still allowing for the occasional indulgence. Additionally, eating a primarily plant-based diet helps fuel smaller businesses and farms, which gives back to the community and helps grassroot efforts.

If you’re not 100% ready to cut meat and dairy out of your diet, but want to feel better about the small impact you can make, a flexitarian diet is a great place to start. So how does Parma! fit in? Because it’s deliciously plant-based. You don’t have to be vegan to love Parma! Our plant-based parmesan is perfect for a flexitarian eater. (It can even be used on meat and fish for those indulgent days!)
